Our First Annual Camp Out

Chapter 112 went on our first ever camp out this weekend.  We had a blast!
First we had to get a fire going because it was chilly when we got there Friday evening.
The Navigators all collected firewood...

which quickly turned into a game of "who can collect the largest piece of wood."

We got the fire ready and lit.

Then we made sure it had plenty of oxygen.

Nice fire Navigators!

 Dinner Time

Th next morning, we got up early for a little fishing.

Made breakfast...

and had some fun with rope and sticks otherwise known as a bow and arrow ;)

Then we got ready for a hike.

We learned all about what to do during extreme weather while hiking.

We explored a stream we found along the way

We learned what we should do if we see a bear.

One of our Navigators got lost (on purpose of course.)

He was lucky he had a whistle and we were all able to find him.

After a break and some lunch we learned a little about rafting at the little stream that ran through our campsite.

Then we got a chance to build our own.

Everyone got a chance to test theirs out in the stream.

After lunch the Navigators did a little tree climbing...

And a little recreational bushcrafting...
they built their own working zip-line with logs, sticks, and rope.

 and even a swing!

After dinner we all played with glow sticks and went out for a night hike!

It was an amazing weekend!

Water Safety

April's Water Safety meeting was so much fun!
Everyone earned their bronze badges and a few Seniors were able to earn the silver!

We learned about water safety, properly entering and exiting the water, took the swimmers pledge and played some fun water games!

First Aid Meeting

Our Navigators got the chance to learn some basic CPR and first aid from Heather from Ace CPR training at our meeting in April.

She taught is about CPR.

We had a chance to try to do CPR on her dummy.  It isn't as easy as it looks.

We talked about basic First Aid and built our personal first aid kits.

Then we made some "injuries and practiced our new skills.

Our Seniors and Senior leaders attended a full CPR training and are now CPR certified!

Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center

Today we learned a ton at the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center and we earned our paleo patches!

We made our own fossil casts.  We started with a mold and then added plaster.

Then we took a tour with our guide Sage.

He showed us so many things and taught us so much.

He even had many hands on items we could touch

We even got to peak into the lab where they are working on life size fossil castings of several dinosaurs

After our tour we did a scavenger hunt, learned some fun dino facts and earned our paleo patches!
