The wonderful people at Colorado Springs Utilities set up an awesome scouting program to learn more about water conservation. This was a combined program for Navigators, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
We all met in the classroom and first learned about how water travels. We did a little roll playing and became water droplets. We rolled dice to see where we would travel. We visited stations around the room representing different places you may find water, ground water, rivers, clouds etc.
The Juniors were most fascinated by this amazing water table. It had running water that showed how it travels from the mountains and into our city .
Then, we headed outside for a tour of local plant life in the xeriscape garden.
We got to smell, and touch and explore.
Then we did a super fun water relay race!
It was a tie!
While Juniors returned inside to learn all about the water cycle, our Seniors took a trip outside to learn about water purification.
We even purified some very questionable water and gave it a taste!
We learned a ton and had a blast!
